Welcome to Building Blocks, a blanket class that will teach 12 different stitches and blanket finishing techniques over the course of 13 separate lessons in 13 months. Designed by Michelle Hunter of Knit Purl Hunter, each class will produce a (roughly) 12x12 inch block, which will be sewn together to make a blanket. You do not need to be an experienced knitter (though knowing basics would be helpful) as this class is designed to teach new skills.
Taught by Julie.
Class cap is 8 per session (13 sessions total), 2 segments offered a month (one Saturday, one Wednesday)
Class fee is $20 each class or $15 if paid in advance ($260/$195)
Skills required: in order to have a successful class, you must know how to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off.
Class pre-work: Class work will be assigned via email prior to each class. You should have a 24 stitch, 4 inch swatch in stockinette ready for the first class.
Materials needed: HiKoo SimpliWorsted:
Solid Color Version - 10 skeins
Two Color Version - 10 skeins (5 skeins of each color)
Buliding Blocks pattern book
Yarn and the book will be offered for the class as a package for $140, this represents a $40 discount! Students who register for the entire class package will also receive a FREE KGY shopper.
In addition to the yarn, you will need needles in the appropriate size to match your yarn. I recommend using 24 inch circulars, even though you are knitting flat. This will prevent stitch crowding on your needles. You will also need a cable needle, a blunt tip tapestry needle, scissors, and stitch markers. You know, the usual stuff.
Section 1: Wednesdays 5:30-7:30pm: 10/23, 11/20, 12/18, (2020) 1/15, 2/12, 3/11, 4/8, 5/6, 6/17, 7/15, 8/12, 9/9, 10/14
Section 2: Saturdays 10am-12pm: 11/2, 12/14, (2020) 1/11, 2/8, 3/7, 4/4, 5/2, 6/13, 7/11, 8/8, 9/5, 10/3, 11/7

KGY is collecting donated yarn for charity knit/crochet. If you have yarn you would like to de-stash we are happy to accept it. If you would like to help us #keepsyracusewarm this winter, please come grab a few skeins and make something: hats, mittens, blankets, anything.
Currently we are taking most donations to Vera House, but you are welcome to take some charity yarn for your favorite cause.
