![]() It hit me the other day how quickly summer has gone by. July came and went. August rushed up behind me and shoved me in the back. For many of us here in Central New York, the New York State Fair is our signal that summer is coming to a close, and I didn’t realize the Fair starts in a few days until a friend was talking about getting a booth set up there. In my former life as a higher ed professional we would count down the days in our weekly orientation meetings to new student move-in. (Three days if you’re counting.) This year autumn is around the corner and I don’t know about you, but I’m a little shocked by that. If you’re anything like me, in April you had a thousand things you wanted to get done this summer. And if you’re like me, you just realized September is almost here and you got maybe a tenth of them done. ![]() But you know what? That’s OK. I’m going to give myself a little grace on this one. Could I have been more productive? Probably. Do I regret how I used my time? No. I spent time with friends and family. I took my dog hiking. I sat on my porch (when it wasn’t 90% humidity) and made pretty things. Coming from a life of productivity hacks and packed calendars, sometimes this feels like time wasted, especially running a fledgling business, but it’s not. Time spent on people and experiences is never wasted, only shifted around. That said, September is staring at me from behind tree, and it’s time to buckle back down. We have lots of fun classes and events in the works for you this fall. The shop is getting busier again, and new stock is arriving each week. As news develops around here, emails are probably going to get a little more frequent. It’s time to start the holiday knitting. Not to freak you out but… 128 days to Christmas 106 days to Hannukah 129 days to Kwanzaa And to my Orange friends who are headed into the busiest, wildest, most fun time of year: good luck and Go Orange.

Kerry- I always enjoy your writing and creativity. I don’t know anyone else who calls a month a sneaky jerk. You are delightful. (And I always wonder what you taught. )

Thank you, Kerry, for your warmly inclusive and informative emails. They make me feel like I'm connected to you and your team (crew? staff? posse? whatever...) even though I don't visit your store very often.
