If you enjoy textured knitting, twisted stitches offer an option that pops! In this class, you will make a hat using twisted stitch techniques such as those used in traditional Bavarian knitting, perfect as a gift or to wear yourself.

Time: 1 two-hour class
Level 3: Look, I made some stuff! I can knit and purl, knit in the round, increase and decrease, and I’m ready to try something new.
Skills you need: Cast on, knit and purl in the round, basic decreases, basic chart reading.
Skills you will learn: 

• Working Bavarian-style twisted stitch patterns

Materials:

• Stitch markers, 8 or 9 total, 1 unique
• Needles, US size 7 with reasonably sharp points, 16” circular and DPNs or longer circular(s) for working a small diameter in the round
• Pattern will be provided in class

Suggested Yarns: 

• West Yorkshire Spinners The Croft Aran
• Berroco Ultra Wool, Ultra Alpaca or Vintage
• Ella Rae Rustic Aran

For the best experience, we recommend that you do not use fully synthetic or cotton yarn, or dark colors. High content wool will be the easiest to work with.. As a reminder, yarn for classes must come from KGY. Visit our class policy page for more information.

Preparation: Please come to class with 104 stitches cast on to your 16” circular needle, ready to join in the round. Hat pattern will be provided in class.
